RENOVATION OF THE CHURCH OF THE SACRED SACRAMENT OF LAWTON
SALMERON RELIGIOUS ART WORKSHOP HAS DONE THREE ALTARS,
AN ALTAR TABLE, AN AMBON-PULPIT AND A BAPTISMAL PILE
Salmerón Religious Art Workshop - commissioned by our partner King Richards, Liturgical design and contracting- we have renovated the presbytery and side chapels of the Church of the Sacred Sacrament of Lawton (Oklahoma-USA).
This long-awaited rehabilitation of the Lawton temple was blessed by the Archbishop of Oklahoma, Paul Stagg Coakley, on December 6, 2020.
The renovation consisted of the creation of an altarpiece, an altar table, two side altarpieces, an ambo-pulpit and a baptismal font.
Everything is made of mahogany-stained white oak wood with 24-karat gold leaf details.
The main altarpiece is in the Romanesque style. The basement is separated by four pilasters, and the second body consists of four niches separated by smooth round columns and whose bottoms have been engraved and stained alternately blue and garnet, according to the priest's instructions.
We have also made the images of these niches in our polychrome wood carving workshops: Santa María de Alacoque, San Tarcisio, Santa Bárbara, and Blessed Stanley Francis Rother, a native of Oklahoma.
In the central niche of the main altarpiece, a bronze cross is venerated, and the attic is made up of an eight-column canopy with a dome flanked by two wooden angels gilded with 24K gold leaf.
In front of the altarpiece, the new altar table in whose front the Paschal Lamb carved in wood and gilt stands out. The table consists of four rectangular section pilasters. This is a constant in all the pieces of furniture in this set, in which rectangular section pilasters and attached capital have been placed in the lower sections and in the upper sections, smooth round columns have been chosen.
Two wooden altarpieces carved and engraved with a classical pattern have been erected on the sides of the presbytery. The wooden and gilded emblems of Mary and Jesus the Savior Man have been included on the bases.
In these side altarpieces the images of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Jesus the Redeemer, property of the parish, have been placed.
The renovation of the church has been completed with a baptismal font with a brass tornado bowl, and a pulpit-type ambo, with pilasters, dais, and hidden channeling for sound and light.
It should be noted that all the elements have been finished off with large slabs of Spanish Triana Yellow marble, which due to its golden color combines very well with wood and gold. The slabs of the table and altarpieces are ten centimeters thick and weigh 600 kilos each.
